Built for the Comback.
Backed by Science.
Project ACL is BC’s most comprehensive ACL rehabilitation program — combining expert physiotherapy, elite-level testing, and on-field return-to-sport training.

We created Project ACL to fill a critical gap in how ACL Inuries are rehabilitated in BC…
Too often, athletes are left navigating a fragmented recovery process — with no single program that offers expert acute care, truly individualized strength and conditioning, objective performance testing, and structured on-field return-to-sport training.
We believed athletes deserved better.
So we built a comprehensive, athlete-focused system that brings all of these elements together — guided by experienced physiotherapists, backed by data, and designed to take you from injury to full performance with confidence.
What Sets Project ACL Apart
A Complete System — Built for You, Start to Finish
Every detail of Project ACL has been thoughtfully designed to guide you from surgery to sport. No guesswork, no fluff — just a fully supported pathway so you can focus on what matters most: doing the work and getting better.

Advanced Testing Protocols
We use state-of-the-art performance testing equipment from VALD and a research-backed assessment framework to track your recovery at every stage. These objective metrics help guide your rehab, boost confidence, and ensure you're progressing safely and efficiently toward return to sport.

Customized Strength PROGRAMS
There’s nothing cookie-cutter about Project ACL. Every athlete receives a fully individualized strength and rehab plan, delivered through Lumin Sports — the same athlete management software used by elite teams around the world. Your program evolves with your progress, keeping your rehab aligned with your goals.

On-Field Return-to-Sport Training
Rehab doesn’t stop in the clinic. We prioritize weekly on-field (or on-court) sessions to reintroduce the movement, decision-making, and sport-specific demands you need to safely return to competition. This critical phase is often overlooked — but for us, it’s essential.

Recovery Technology That Accelerates Progress
We leverage cutting-edge recovery tools to help reduce pain, manage swelling, and accelerate healing — so you can stay on track with your rehab and get back in the game faster. Our toolkit includes:
Normatec Elite Compression System
mTrigger Smart EMG
Compex Neuromuscular Stimulation (NMES)
VALD AirBands Blood Flow Restriction (BFR)
Ossur Cold Rush Therapy System
…and many more.
PROJECT ACL PHASES
From Surgery to Game Day and Beyond: Your Roadmap to Recovery
Six expert-led phases to get you stronger, faster, and confidently back in the game.
Phase 1: Reset & Rebuild
This is where your recovery begins. In Phase 1, we lay the groundwork for your entire rehabilitation journey. Our focus is on restoring range of motion, reducing pain and swelling, and reactivating key muscles that are often inhibited after surgery. Together with our expertise in post-surgical management and the use of cutting-edge recovery technology, we’ll help maximize your early recovery and get you moving in the right direction.
We target fundamental movement patterns like walking, squatting, hinging, pushing, and pulling, ensuring you develop strong neuromuscular control before progressing to strength-based work. Advanced tools — including mTrigger surface EMG, Compex neuromuscular stimulation, Normatec Compression Systems and other state-of-the-art recovery tools — are used to help optimize muscle activation and guide precise, data-driven progress.
This phase builds the critical foundation that sets you up for success in everything that follows.
Phase 2: Reload & Re-pattern
Now that pain and motion are under control, it's time to reload the system. In Phase 2, we begin restoring muscle mass lost during the post-injury and post-surgery periods. We target both isolated and functional strength, rebuilding the scaffolding necessary for powerful efficient movement.
We also refine movement patterns — the shapes and postures you’ll need for your sport. Drills are intentionally selected to mimic the ranges of motion and joint angles you’ll encounter during sprinting, cutting, jumping, and landing, giving your brain and body more time to adapt.
By the end of this phase, athletes approaching readiness for running will be evaluated against our Return-to-Run Criteria, ensuring your body is truly prepared before progressing.
Phase 3: Strength & Capacity
This phase marks a critical shift — from rebuilding to truly repriming your athletic engine. With foundational control and mobility restored, we now begin focused strength development and muscular growth to support higher-intensity movement demands.
This is where we truly progress into strength development, and work on increasing the muscle mass that will become the engine for producing movement with speed in our next phase. Linear running and aerobic conditioning progress in parallel, guided by your performance physiotherapy and strength and conditioning team.
We further develop athletic movement patterns such as cutting, shuffling, and change of direction, while layering in increased intensity and complexity. Athletes in this phase continue to benefit from both our group drop-in gym sessions and on-field sessions, supporting the seamless transfer of gym-built strength into real-world, sport-relevant performance.
Phase 4: Accelerate & React
Phase 4 is where everything starts to look and feel like sport again. Now that you’ve built strength and capacity, we shift our focus to producing explosive power and responding to movement under unpredictable, game-like conditions.
You’ll train rate of force development, reactive agility, and decision-making under pressure — key components of athletic performance that prepare you for the intensity of competition.
Project ACL uses a carefully designed system to apply your foundational skills within a more chaotic and reactive environment. We introduce sport-specific challenges that include:
Quick reactions to visual, auditory, and cognitive cues
Multi-directional drills that mimic real play
Pattern recognition, anticipation, and unplanned movement tasks
This phase also includes your return to technical sport training. We work closely with your coaches through a system of technical skill progressions, ensuring you build confidence and sharpness without risking setbacks or overload.
This is where strength becomes performance — and where you start playing again with purpose.
Phase 5: GAME READY
This is the final stage of your ACL rehabilitation — where preparation meets performance. In Game Ready, our goal is not just to get you back into your sport, but to ensure you’re physically, mentally, and tactically ready to thrive in competition.
We will utilize the advanced features of the Lumin Sports Athlete Management System to monitor, in real time, how your body is responding to the increasing demands of returning to sport. Our team uses a carefully curated system of tests to produce data to guide your progression and reduce the risk of reinjury.
This phase also emphasizes:
Load and volume management across practices and games
Performance maintenance programming to keep gains strong
Regular progress testing and re-evaluation
Communication with technical coaches to guide return-to-play planning
Our mission isn’t just to get you cleared — it’s to make sure you return confident, resilient, and ready to compete at your best.
Phase 6: Maintain & Monitor
Powered by the Physiomoves High Performance Program
You’ve made it back — but this is where long-term success really begins. After all the time, effort, and discipline you've invested, we can’t afford to take our foot off the gas now.
Our Athlete Maintenance & Monitoring phase is designed to help you stay strong, stay healthy, and stay performing, well beyond your initial return to sport. This program offers structured support to keep you progressing and reduce the risk of reinjury during full competition.
Included in this phase:
Once-monthly 60-minute athlete testing session using state-of-the-art equipment to track performance, asymmetries, and key physical markers
A fully customized strength and conditioning program delivered through Lumin Sports Athlete Management System provided monthly
One month of access to our drop-in gym sessions (once weekly), supervised by our expert physiotherapy and performance staff
You’ve made it back — now let’s keep it going.
